She asked me for a watercolor,
A painting representing our hearts

What she didn't know,
Is that I already knew
What it is I know,
Is what she never knew

She doesn't love me any longer,
I don't understand
Why she bothers to try...

She doesn't love me any longer,
I don't understand
Why she showed up at my doorstep

And asked for a watercolor painting
Representing our hearts,
So that she could always
Have a piece of us
No matter what
She had told me...

She's can't love me,
If she's already open
With her suspicion

Has she not realized
What I've come home too
The evenings I worked late
At the studio?

Sliding into bed
Next to a beautiful girl
Just to realize...

She's wearing less than normal,
The bedroom smells of a cologne
That I've never used,
The sheets, blankets
It's all a mess -
Not how she normally would be

I let it slide that night,
But by morning
When I awoke
And went to dress myself for the day,
I found some of my own clothes missing
And another man's clothing
Hanging in my closet

I chose another outfit
And decided
I would not be working in the studio
That day

Instead, I left the home
I waited outside, nearby

And I watched
As the love of my life
Ran outside to an unknown car

And I watched
As the love of my life
Touched tongues with an unknown man

And I watched
As the love of my life
Left hand in hand with this man
Into our home,

And I watched
As the two of them
Passed the window
Into our bedroom,

And yet, she still came
A week later
And had told me
She was staying with her "sick mother"

A week after this
She appeared at the doorstep
And asked me for a watercolor,
A painting representing our hearts

What she didn't know,
Is that I already knew
What it is I know,
Is what she never knew

And what she never knew,
Wasn't that I already knew,
But that her knowing
Would soon have an ending

I went to the studio
A few mornings later,
And I called her over
Explained to her
How I needed her to pose
For the painting she requested

I could hear the fake cheer
Shrouding her voice as she replied
I would love to, my love -
I'll be right over!

Many minutes later,
Her rottenly beautiful face
Appeared at the door's window

I let her in, welcomed her
The moment felt like it had
The day we first met, our first date

I had her lay on a nearby table
I left her there to lie on her back
I had her pose her fancy pose
And I brought over my canvas
To paint right with her

She could watch me paint
While I could look down her...
A perfect angle
For what I need
To finish the painting

I painted a blue sky,
A yellow sun,
Green grass,
A beautiful day

I created a bridge
Across the canvas,
And I painted the two of us
Atop the wooden lane

I remember that day
Her dress was a deep red...
It was the only thing
I left out of the painting

My dress wasn't white, silly
Why are you leaving me blank?

She giggled as she pointed it out

I smiled to her, kissed her lips,
Let her know that I knew that -
I just needed the paint, first...

I told her I'd be back,
And I went to get a cup of water
From the faucet in the kitchen

I came back with the cup in one hand,
And I knife in the other

There, she smiled at me
Her kinky smile
As I brought over the knife

What she didn't know,
Is that I already knew
What it is I know,
Is what she never knew

And what she didn't know
Was what to expect
As I drove the knife
Into her unloving heart

With the blade
Covered in blood,
I mixed it with the water
Before dipping in the brush
And finishing the painting

She asked me for a watercolor,
And so that's what I gave her

A painting representing our hearts,
And so that's what I created her

I next slit my wrist
And used the blood
To paint a heart between us

She asked me for a watercolor painting,
I represented it through the blood of our hearts
And I left it by her side in her death

What she didn't know,
Is that I knew she didn't love me
What it is I know,
Is that I know how to find revenge

How her heart would be her death,
Is what I already knew
How she would receive her watercolor,
Is what she never knew

She had asked me for a watercolor,
A painting representing our hearts
I read a poem about a watercolor painting ending in heartbreak... And, well...
Sometimes you need to bring out your eerie side. Meow Evil

In case you didn't quite catch it perfectly, it's from a male painter's point of view. His girlfriend is cheating on him, and when he learns, his girlfriend has minor suspicions that he's realized and asks for the painting because he loves art and her hopes is that he'll love her still by doing what he loves for her. Instead, he kills her as revenge when he creates the painting for her.

Maybe that's why it's so good. It was written out of instinct :)

Oh wow, this is seriously... hmmm... sinisterly tragic. I think I've fainted.

The poem's fantastic! La la la la Even if it isn't my sort of topic...

Reminds me eerily of School Days, which I didn't like the ending of at all.Rage

Thanks. Kind of what I was going for. :meow:

Not my sort of topic to usually write.

Never heard of "School Days".

It's a visual novel with an anime adaption (I watched the anime). I wouldn't suggest it really...
