Light of the Midst

What are we, but a mass of black?
One giant crowd that stalks the streets

They say it takes some guts
To walk on the outside, and face reality

Then there's those who cower between everybody
They're never noticed, never seen, blocked out
They walk with the others, followers, silent

Those were the first to form this all
Others came after, building up a crowd
That kept the originals inside, hidden

In the middle of the mass of black
Feet move of people who once knew life
People that are surrounded by the lifeless
Who follow like zombies in their false hope

Nobody knows, nobody cares, nobody realizes
That the ones that hide among them all
Are but of the ones they should be searching for

Inside, the ones that have once lived life
For to become one that walks in the crowd,
You must have experienced that something...
That something that brought you down,
That put you into the place you currently march in

Hidden in the midst, is the light of true people
They walk on, after facing what has destroyed them
The ones that hide their smiles and happiness,
Because others subconsciously put them down

But there will come a day, where they break free
Where they can once again walk with freedom
Where they can turn off the road they've followed

Someday will come the moment
When the people that live as the light of the midst
Can finally break free
