Truth in a Firefly's Glow

Fireflies, glimmering like the moon above -
Dancing around a child’s outstretched hand
As they try to capture pieces of the magical night

Natural lights creating an evening of shine,
Trapped in jars to save their glorious light
Captured now, before temporary ends -
For beauty isn’t an object that lasts forever

The little darlings’ light holding precious dreams,
Keeping them safe from the delicate dangers
That create the dark surrounding their bedsides

Dependable shines of light to ward off the fears,
Exhaustion overwhelms the little ones whilst
The bugs’ lights begin to weaken as they drift
Under their own magical spell of slumber

As darkness overcomes the shining lights,
It turns to peace in a world of make believe
Where fireflies rule; from the night to day

An open place for our fireflies of light,
Dancing about as they grant us the wish
To live forever in these very moments,
And to never grow out of their glow
